Prof. Yizhou Tian presented at the 3rd Global Circulations of Film Theory Symposium
19 April, 2024

Visiting Scholar Professor Yizhou Tian from Nankai University (Tianjin, China) joins us for a year with support from the China Scholarship Council and the UK China Humanities Alliance.

Professor Tian’s research focus is on the translation of film theory into Chinese from other languages in the Republican era (1911-1949), focusing on the routes taken and the transformations that occurred. His expertise feeds into the AHRC Research Network Grant-funded Global Circulations of Film Theory project (PI Sarah Cooper) and he presented a paper “‘The Translation and Circulation of Film Theory in 1930s China” at the network’s 3rd symposium on 8 March 2024.
